The Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute is proud to announce the selection of the 2024 cohort of Caminos al Futuro Pre-College Program.
With the aim of fostering leadership and academic excellence, Caminos al Futuro is a three-week, fully funded pre-college program that immerses high school students in a college-like environment on the George Washington University’s campus. Participants gain a firsthand view of policymaking in the nation's capital through visits to Capitol Hill and engage in stimulating lectures and small-group meetings with university professors and national Latino leaders. They also gain valuable insights into the college application process, scholarships, and financial aid in workshops hosted by GW Admissions specialists.
After receiving over 350 applications, we are thrilled to welcome 14 outstanding students as Caminos Scholars, representing Texas, California, Arizona, Maryland, Alabama, Ohio, New York, Michigan, New Jersey and Illinois. Dr. Elizabeth Vaquera, Executive Director of the Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute, shared, “This year’s cohort demonstrated exceptional leadership potential and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact in the Latino community.”
Since its inception in 2016, Caminos al Futuro has supported over 7 cohorts of students on their journey to higher education. Caminos Scholars have gone on to attend renowned institutions such as Harvard, Stanford, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, and the George Washington University, and have been selected to receive prestigious scholarships, such as the QuestBridge Scholarship, the Gates Scholarship, and the GW Cisneros Scholars Program.
