Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute Welcomes New Affiliate Faculty, Tahina L. Montoya

Washington, DC –  The Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute proudly announces the newest addition to our Affiliate Faculty, Tahina L. Montoya. A distinguished Air Force Veteran, Montoya brings over 15 years of invaluable experience, having served in various capacities across nine countries, including deployments supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. In addition to serving as an Officer in the Air Force Reserves, Montoya is Political/Military Strategist and Gender Advisor assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency and Strategic Advisor at the Department of Veteran Affairs. 

Montoya, a fierce advocate for advancing peace and security, teaches Gender, War, and Peace at The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs. She is also the recipient of numerous fellowships and completed several prestigious programs, including Women of Color Advancing Peace, Security, and Conflict Transformation; Women in International Security Defense Fellowship; and the National Endowment for Democracy’s Penn Kemble Fellowship. She is currently completing her doctoral dissertation at Georgetown University. 

Montoya expressed her enthusiasm for joining the Cisneros Institute, stating, “I am moved by the opportunity to join the Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute team as an Affiliate Faculty member. I hope to share my experiences as a Latina in the National Security space and look forward to helping Hispanic/Latino students succeed inside and outside the classroom.”
