Though Guna molas are recognized worldwide for their bright colors and complex embroidery, little is known about the Guna women who make molas. Join us for a discussion on how Guna epistemology shapes the self-identity of these women and is expressed through their material art. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Tahina Montoya (Elliott) and feature the three extraordinary Guna women. After the event, enjoy a photography and mola exhibit, along with Panamanian food!

This event is brought to you in partnership with the GW Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, GW Latino Alumni Network (LAN), Elliott Leadership, Ethics and Practice Initiative (LEAP), Elliott Gender Equality Initiative in International Affairs (GEIA), Elliott Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI), LATAM@GW, Elliott Latin American and Caribbean Studies Initiative, GW Faculty-in-Residence, and the GW Students for Indigenous and Native American Rights.
