The Samaritans: Film Screening and Conversation with Director David Damian Figueroa

Join us on October 14th in the USC Amphitheater for a screening of The Samaritans, a documentary exploring the work of American volunteers who provide humanitarian aid along one of the world's deadliest migration routes in Southern Arizona. This documentary serves as a tribute to the countless migrants who have sacrificed their lives seeking the American Dream and to the advocates who refuse to disregard their plight. 

Through their stories, we are reminded of our shared humanity and the critical need for compassion and systemic change in the face of a humanitarian immigration crisis. After the screening, we will be joined by director David Damian Figueroa, who will provide additional context on the documentary and his experiences with humanitarian border aid volunteer work.

David Damian Figueroa is a former entertainment publicist representing legendary recording artists and actors. He is best known for his work in connecting entertainers to nonprofits and social justice and human rights campaigns. He has decades-long experience developing and implementing strategic communications plans that maximize news coverage and increase visibility through television, film, celebrity and influencer engagement, social media, and print media.

He has launched nationwide social justice campaigns on policy issues related to education, farmworker rights and empowerment, voting rights, immigration, public resource equity, equity, and employment.
