Dialogos Hispanos with Roberto Hernandez
Our second conversation with Hispanic/Latinx Leaders!Join us for a discussion with Emmy Award-winning director and justice reform advocate Roberto Hernández!
Roberto is the Senior Researcher at the World Justice Project where he oversees the various Mexico-based projects, with more than a decade of experience designing and deploying surveys that measure various aspects of criminal justice in Mexico and overseas. He holds a B.A. in Law from el Instituto Technológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), an LL.M. in Comparative Law from McGill University in Montreal, and he is Ph.D candidate at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley.
At the beginning of his career as a criminal justice advocate, Roberto Hernández produced Presumed Guilty (Presunto Culpable), a 2008 documentary that follows Antonio Zúñiga, who was falsely convicted of murder in Mexico City. After exposing the flaws in Mexico’s justice system, where over 90% of the convictions are not based on physical evidence, the documentary was temporarily banned in Mexican theatres by a federal judge, before being released and shown in the United States via PBS.
