How to Apply to Postdoctoral Fellowship

Application materials should be submitted in one package and include the following information:

  • Cover letter and full curriculum vitae: The letter should describe your dissertation research, plans for publication, and interest/impact in topics relating to the Hispanic/Latino experience, citing specific examples if possible. In your curriculum vitae, please include any honors, fellowships, teaching experience, other employment, and languages.
  • Two letters of reference, one of which must be from your dissertation advisor: Each referee you select should be familiar with your academic experience and ability, and be able to address your qualifications and interests both as a researcher and as a teacher.
  • Abstract of dissertation prospectus: Be concise, no more than one page.
  • Writing Sample: This can be in the form of an article or dissertation chapters. Samples should demonstrate skills in writing, critical thinking, analysis and conclusion.
  • Proposed plan for postdoctoral development of project: In no more than one page, describe your plans for transforming your dissertation into a publication. Address directly how a fellowship year at GW will be of assistance to you.
  • Statement of academic career goals: In no more than two pages, describe your goals for future research and teaching. Address directly how the Cisneros Fellowship will be of assistance to you in achieving your career goals.
  • Official copy of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts.
