Abril Castro is majoring in Human Services & Social justice and minoring in Political Science. She was born in New York City to Dominican parents, moved to Miami when she was one, and has spent the past ten years in Lawrenceville, Georgia, before coming to The George Washington University. She is very passionate about issues affecting the Latino community including education equality, immigration, and voting rights. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she hopes to complete her master’s in either Public Administration or Public Policy and eventually work for a Latino civil rights organization that aims to increase political participation in the Latino community through civic engagement and advocacy efforts. In the past she has worked with state organizations such as the Hispanic Organization Promoting Education (HoPe), The Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials (GALEO), and is currently interning for the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).
